From Warner Bros. Pictures comes Matt Reeves’ “The Batman,” starring Robert Pattinson in the dual role of Gotham City’s vigilante detective and his alter ego, reclusive billionaire Bruce Wayne. Starring alongside Pattinson (“Tenet,” “The Lighthouse”) as Gotham’s famous and infamous cast of characters are Zoë Kravitz (“Big Little Lies,” “Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald”) as Selina Kyle; Paul Dano (“Love & Mercy,” “12 Years a Slave”) as Edward Nashton; Jeffrey Wright (“No Time to Die,” “Westworld”) as the GCPD’s James Gordon; John Turturro (the “Transformers” films, “The Plot Against America”) as Carmine Falcone; Peter Sarsgaard (“The Magnificent Seven,” “Interrogation”) as Gotham D.A. Gil Colson; Jayme Lawson (“Farewell Amor”) as mayoral candidate Bella Reál; with Andy Serkis (the “Planet of the Apes” films, “Black Panther”) as Alfred; and Colin Farrell (“The Gentlemen,” “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them”) as Oswald Cobblepot.

Reeves (“The Planet of the Apes” franchise) directed from a screenplay by Reeves & Peter Craig, based on characters from DC. Batman was created by Bob Kane with Bill Finger. Dylan Clark (the “Planet of the Apes” films) and Reeves produced the film, with Michael E. Uslan, Walter Hamada, Chantal Nong Vo and Simon Emanuel serving as executive producers.

The director’s behind-the-scenes creative team included Oscar-nominated director of photography Greig Fraser (“Dune,” “Lion”); Reeves’ “Planet of the Apes” production designer, James Chinlund, and editor, William Hoy; editor Tyler Nelson (“Rememory”); and Oscar-winning costume designer Jacqueline Durran (“1917,” “Little Women,” “Anna Karenina”). The music is by Oscar-winning composer Michael Giacchino (the current “Spider-Man,” “Jurassic World” and “Star Wars” films, “Up”).

    🚧Dreadfully hyped CW-level big budget superhero vs cheesy mafia / mental-case garbage…

    🌠Aside from solid tech specs, the only truly, absolutely single PERFECT shining gem of this mess was Zoe Kravitz🏆

    This was the worst batman movie ever… it dragged on so freaking long, and I had more fun making fun of the movie than actually watching it. People actually walked out.

    A great, great take on a dark, kick butt, no frills Batman. I wouldn't mind seeing this actor reprise this role in a sequel, but they would have to step their game. This is what we decades old, Batman/ Dark Knight, comics readers and fans have wanted in the World'd Greatest Detective. I think, based on reading comments and viewers input, there are a lot of fans of this and other super hero movies who never read a comic book and no little boy nothing the super heroes. Maybe because for them, there is a story line without having to playing a lot of "catch up" on the character's back story and history. Although it's entertainment, their sense of intelligence is met with a good mixture of a good plot and action. I'm a 75 year old vet who has been reading comics for 68+ years. My wife's never read a comic. She reads mystery and fiction, does crosswords a will go to the AMC to watch a super hero movie and give a thumbs up if it met her approval.
